Taste & See Healthy Baby Food offers a baby food class series that educates and empowers parents to make their own homemade food during early childhood.

The baby food class series is offered seasonally.  Please check the events calendar for upcoming classes in Austin, TX and the surrounding area.  Our baby food class size is limited to 12 families. Participants are encouraged to register early and must register in advance for a class. 

YES, you can bring your little ones with you to class! Light snacks and drinks provided during a baby food class.

BONUS! Each parent that participates in a baby food class receives a FREE 50-page comprehensive guide that includes age and developmentally appropriate recipes that you can re-create and adapt at home. Inside the guide, you’ll also find useful information about breast/ formula feeding, baby food guidelines, nutritional basics, food preparation and much more. Homemade Baby Food – It’s easy, It’s the healthiest choice, and it saves money!

Many factors influence the quality of foods we offer to our families these days. From GMO’s to sugar content, there are a variety of ingredients that go into store bought baby food you may not be aware of as a parent.

In this one-hour introductory baby food class, you will learn about the nutritional benefits of making your own baby food and how easy it is to do so in your own home. This is a great class for parents on the fence about preparing homemade baby food. Walk away feeling educated on the many different types of baby food and different ways to promote a healthy lifestyle for the whole family.

Price: $40 per person, and $20 per person for couples or groups of 3 or more. (friend, spouse, neighbor, etc.) This class is offered on the first Monday of the month at an agreed upon location for one-on-one or small group consultation.

Baby Food Class: Homemade Baby Food 101:  Fresh & Simple!

The first year of a baby’s life is crucial for child nutrition and a time when parents may be experiencing a mix of fear and excitement over when to start on solid foods.

If this sounds like you, then this baby food class – Baby Food 101: Fresh & Simple is just what you need! Join us at Baby Earth in Round Rock in Spring 2017 for a food demo and class where you will learn:

  • How to determine baby’s readiness to start solid foods
  • The best time to introduce solids
  • Age appropriate food choices
  • Food preparation + cooking methods
  • Food storage
  • How to parents and caregivers can partner together when introducing solids.

You’ll also get to taste test sample foods in this class as it covers texture, consistency and food combinations for stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3 baby foods based on your baby’s age and development.

For babies already on solids, this is an excellent way to learn about foods beyond purees, natural flavorings, spices and food combinations! Bring your little ones as this is a baby-friendly class.

      Baby Food Class – Finger Foods and More!

The transition from purees to chunky purees to softer foods can be overwhelming to parents.  At this stage, children like to explore foods that vary in presentation, color, size, texture, consistency, and taste.  The quality of food given to children during growth is important due to development that happens during early childhood. From 12 months on, children should be eating small portions of a variety of nutrient-rich foods.

In this class, you will learn about healthy finger food options, instead of pre-packaged items that appeal to young children. This is a great class for parents looking for on-the-go snacks, lunch box ideas or those who follow baby-led weaning techniques. Parents will also learn creative, yet simple food ideas for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Also, we will discuss food selection, food preparation, cooking methods and food storage.  (Includes informational handouts, recipes, and tastings or demo.)

Price: $35 per person, $50 per couple and $20 per person for a group of 3 or more. (friend, spouse, neighbor, etc.)

Food Education For All Ages: Shop the Market Like a Pro!

Join Taste & See Healthy Baby Food’s Cheryl Carey for an educational class at the farmers’ market. Here you will learn shopping tips, with a focus on seasonal fruits and vegetables and how you can use these foods for baby and toddler meals. This class is a fun and interactive opportunity to enjoy being outdoors while learning about the fresh foods available from the local farms! Families and children are encouraged to attend together!

Includes comprehensive guide with age-appropriate information, recipes, and resources. Following the 1-hour class, we will walk through the farmer market and visit with vendors.

  • Tip# 1 Cash is the easiest currency. Vendors may accept checks and credit cards.
  • Tip# 2 Some vendors will have bags, it’s easiest if you bring your reusable bags.
  • Tip#3 Bring a cooler. Make sure to have coolers with ice packs in your car, or take your market goodies straight home to keep it fresh and at its peak.

 Moms-in-the-Know Special Topic: Eat, Play & Grow!

Spring 2017 to be announced

Is your little one starting to crawl or walk? Has your toddler or preschooler started to play a sport, attend gymnastics or take dance classes? The foods our children eat not only aids in positive growth and development but gives them the energy they need to play and participate in fun activities.

In this class, parents will learn about child development, nutritional needs for active children and provide suggestions on how parents can encourage healthy eating habits with their children through different stages of growth.

There will be educational handouts and worksheets with cost saving suggestions and food label reading tips. 

Unable to attend a class? No problem.

There are two more options for you:

1. Schedule a one-on-one consultation on-line using Skype or Google hangout.

2. Check with our local community partners to set up a one-on-one time for us to meet at their location for your consultation.
